Tennis information and tryouts for the 2024-2025 Season

Welcome! The Westlake tennis program begins Aug 5th, 2024 @ 8am with a tryout tournament used to form a Freshman team and JV team, then acts as a feed in draw for the Varsity tryout tournament on Aug 7th and 8th. Varsity Tennis athletics class is 7th period and Freshman/JV athletics will be 8th Period. All returning players, except returning varsity players, must compete in the preseason tryouts. 

Athletic Paperwork  

Athletic paperwork is due July 28th for all players ***Must have this completed before being allowed on the courts for tryouts/practice***

Prior to tryouts and/or practice, athletes must have all athletic paperwork completed in RankOne, a completed physical dated after May 1st, 2024 then emailed to our trainers at whssportsmedicine@eanesisd.net, and athletes are cleared by our training staff. Players are not allowed to participate in tennis until they are cleared, so it is very important that paperwork is submitted by July 28th to allow our training staff to review all documentation before the tryout tournament.

Tennis Seasons

Fall tennis is the team tennis season with matches beginning mid August and lasting until the end of October (UIL Team Tennis State Tournament). Spring tennis is considered an individual season with typical tournament style play beginning late January through early mid May (UIL State tournament). Tennis is a year-round sport, so all athletes must be in athletics for the entire school year to be eligible to play tennis.

Posting of google forms and latest tennis information can be found on www.westlakenation.com under the tennis section. *Times may change, so please keep current with our website for any changes. 

Player registration is now open! 2024-25 Tennis Registration. This registration will serve as entry into the tryout tournament held Aug 5th-7th.  Those who are signed up for the tennis class through your counselor (skyward), but do not sign up for the tryout tournament will be dropped from the tennis class. Tryout tournament is mandatory for all new players and returning sub-varsity tennis players.

ALL (Varsity and Sub Varsity) Players new and returning who want to play tennis, should complete the google form.

July 23rd: Player registration deadline.

July 28th: All athletic paperwork completed and turned in.

Aug 5th: Freshman/JV Tryout tournament begins at 8am at the Westlake tennis courts, followed by Varsity tryout tournament on Aug 7th and 8th.  Draws will be posted onsite and with match numbers. This will be a double elimination tournament.  Late tryout on Aug 12th @ 8am at the Westlake courts (limited and must email Coach Savage before tryout tournament to be considered).  We will also have a 2nd chance tournament on Aug 12th @ 8am.

Aug 12th: Late tryouts - must email Coach Savage before Aug 1st tryout tournament. 2nd chance tournament/match play @ 8am.  The Parent meeting will also be on Aug 12th @ TSF (Tennis Softball Facility)- Freshman/JV teams @ 5pm.  Varsity Parent meeting @ 7pm.

Aug 14th: 1st day of school; practices begin during 7th period (Varsity) and 8th period (Sub Varsity)
